Dual Citizenship offers the opportunity of a lifetime for current and former IL club Players

Tracy Greer, IYSA Network News (excerpt)

Its one of the perks of being a dual citizen: an opportunity to live in one country while representing another in athletic competition.

[One of these athletes,] Cynthia Morote, a former ODP Regional Pool Player and current senior at St. Ignatius High School, participated in the XV Bolivarian Games with the Peruvian Womens National Team in August. The team traveled to Columbia to play and took home the first gold medal in womens soccer for Peru. Morote scored 3 goals and notched 8 assists in the tournament.

In December Morote will return to Peru for training with the U-20 National Team, which is preparing for the qualifying games for the 2006 U-20 World Cup in Russia in a 10 team tournament known as the South American Cup. The winner and second place runner up will proceed to Russia. The Womens National Team will also participate in the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil. [excerpt].

Cynthia played on the U18 team for LFSA during the Fall 2005, where her father, Dr. Salvador Morote is the coach.

Cynthia is currently in the process of deciding where to go to University for next year. She has her choices down to returning to Peru next year or to go to Loyola University to train under Frank Matheus, the new womens coach who is interested in building the Loyola soccer program.

We wish Cynthia and her Peruvian Womens National Team the best of luck!
